What is a glitch effect?
Glitch combines a fixed random pattern of horizontal bands, channel shifts, noise, and scanlines to create the look of disrupted digital video. It adds a bold accent to music, gaming, and technology visuals.
Parameters
- Strength
- Controls horizontal band count and thickness as well as the scale of horizontal displacement. Higher values intensify the same distortion pattern.
- RGB shift, block noise, and scanlines
- RGB shift separates color channels across the image and is stronger inside horizontal bands. Block noise adds rectangular distortion, and scanlines control horizontal line darkness.
- Randomize
- Use this to try a different distortion pattern. It keeps the current parameter values and changes only the placement and shape of the glitches.
How to use the glitch effect
- Choose an image.
- Adjust strength, RGB shift, block noise, and scanlines, then use Randomize when you want to try a different pattern.
- Check the preview and save.
Frequently asked questions
- Will transparent areas in a PNG remain transparent?
- Yes. Horizontal offsets preserve the original transparent areas instead of moving image content into them. Save as PNG or WebP to keep transparency.
